Another NFL regular season in the books. And another bye in the postseason for the New England Patriots. That makes it nine years in a row with a bye for the Patriots. Look at the rest of the NFL. Take the Eagles, Vikings, Jaguars, and Steelers for example. Those were 4 of the 5 best teams in the league last year and it is likely only one of them will make the postseason this tear No one else comes close to the sustainable success the Patriots have. The Miami loss was a joke. They could not get out of their own way against the Steelers. The three losses to the Lions, Jaguars, and Titans were horrific performances. But, as Patriots fans, there is not a lot to complain about. This team has obvious weaknesses and is not as strong as their teams have been recently. However, they finished 11-5 and have a wildcard weekend bye. We are so spoiled. The Patriots finished their regular season today by handling the Jets 38-3 at Gillette. A very surprising outcome, said no one ever. That is likely the last we’ve seen of Todd Bowles as the Jets coach and the Jets are just not a good football team. That does not mean there were no positives to take from the game today. Brady looked razor sharp today. That was a big F-you performance to all of his haters. The run defense was great all afternoon. Gilmore and Jackson are a legit tandem. And it was nice to see Dorsett get involved. He will be an important weapon for TB12 in the playoffs. After frustrating losses to the Dolphins and Steelers, the Patriots ended the regular season strong with gritty performances against two divisional rivals. With their strong finish and some help from the Texans, the Patriots clinched another bye. As long as TB12 is behind center and Bill Belichick is on those sidelines, we are in good hands.
